What is Facebook Group Engagement Bait

img-1

Let’s talk about something Facebook hates…

… and it’s probably something you’ve seen a lot of coaches do.

It’s called engagement bait.

That’s when you post things like:
👉 “Comment YES if you agree.”
👉 “Tag a friend who needs this.”
👉 “Drop an emoji if you’re in.”
👉 @everyone

It looks harmless.

You’re just trying to get people to interact, right?
But here’s the catch: Facebook knows when you’re gaming the system, and it punishes you for it…

When the algorithm sees engagement bait, it actually devalues your post and shows it to fewer people.

Over time, it can shadow ban your group, making it harder for your content to ever reach members.

So what’s the alternative? Authentic prompts.

Instead of forcing a “comment below,” ask a question that people want to answer. Instead of “tag a friend,” create a post that’s so relatable they share it on their own.

The difference?

One manipulates the algorithm. The other builds genuine conversation.

And in the long run, genuine conversation is what keeps your group alive.

If you want to know how else to spark real engagement that Facebook actually rewards… I’m going live soon to talk to you more about how you can build REAL engagement in your Facebook Group.

How to hit your goal – every time!

I'd love if that were true. That every time you set a goal, you hit it. But, it's not. At least not always right away. Sometimes it takes a course correction, a few fumble balls or some tweaks to nail it. Other times it comes with ease and grace. What I can tell...
