You might’ve opened this email thinking… “Huhhh? What is Christina doing talking about weight loss?!”
You’re right! That’s totally not my niche 😛
But I wanted to get real with you for a second…
After turning 40, my body has shifted a lot.
Losing weight doesn’t just happen if I skip a meal anymore, or cut out sugar or wine for a bit..
The number on the scale doesn’t budge towards the left… only towards the right.
But recently – I lost 8lbs! Wahoo!
And it really taught me a huge life lesson in business.
That’s why today, I decided to be 100% vulnerable with you and share “How I lost 8 lbs (and what it taught me about business)…”
Back in the summer, my family and I went on a cycling trip for vacation.
Sounds fun, right?
…except that I was totalllllllly out of shape.
I’ve always had a hard stop number in my mind—a number on the scale I’ve promised myself I wouldn’t go past.
But this time, I did.
By a few pounds.
That number was my wake up call.
It was one of those “I seriously gotta do whatever it takes” moments to bring things back on track.
So, when we got home from the trip, I continued cycling every day.
I wasn’t in amazing shape, but I kept at it.
Every day, I pushed through… even on the days my muscles were screaming at me or I just didn’t feel like it. (And boy did I have those days!)
Slowly, it started getting easier.
I started to feeling stronger. I had more energy, and just felt better overall.
But here’s the thing: the scale still wasn’t budging.

So I picked up my big girl pants and told myself to keep at it.
July… cycling every day.
August… still cycling…
Then September rolled around…
Still nothing?!
You mean I had three months of consistent effort and literally nada?!
Now, I’ll admit, there was a moment (okay, maybe a smidge more than a moment) where I thought, Is this even worth it?
But I told myself: Christina, you’ve got two options right now:
- You give up and try to convince yourself you’re okay with this forever.
- OR you switch things up. You try something new. Because something’s gotta give, and it ain’t gonna be you!
So I dusted off the trusty ol’ sneakers at the back of the cabinet, laced up my shoes and picked up running again.
It had been a long time since I’d gone for a run, but I knew I had to try.
Thankfully, because I’d built up some fitness from cycling, running felt a little easier to get into. But it was a bit more a walk and run to begin with.
Now, I wasn’t running marathons or anything—just squeezing in short runs wherever I could.
It wasn’t perfect, but it was progress.
Then came the small changes: Instead of collapsing on the couch in front of the TV after dinner, I started taking the dog out for a walk.
When my husband and I went to Hawaii in October, things really started to feel different.
My husband and I got into this routine of waking up early (time zones will do that to you!), going for a run, and watching the sun rise. Then we’d hit a coffee shop for breakfast.
That trip was a game changer.
The scale finally started moving, and my body felt different.
And on vacay, what the what?!!!
But it wasn’t just the running—it was the combination of everything I’d done all summer. The cycling built the base, and the running pushed me further.
Let me be real for a sec: being over 40, I’ve had to adjust my approach. Things that worked for me years ago just don’t work anymore.
I’ve tried a lot… Restrictive diets, intermittent fasting… but those aren’t for me.
If you know me, I’m a HUGE foodie! I love food. I enjoy wine. Restriction just doesn’t align with who I am.
But you know what ended up working? Consistency and adaptability.
And here’s the thing: It’s exactly like business.
Sometimes, what used to work might not work for you anymore.
Maybe the clients aren’t coming in as quickly as they used too..
Or the strategies that once brought you success now feel stale…
It’s frustrating, I get it.
But just like my fitness journey – it’s about finding what works for you now… making the micro decisions and staying consistent with it.
The pounds will not come off immediately, just like results in business don’t always show up overnight.
But when you commit to the outcome.
When you commit to the result.
You move beyond hope.
It’s only when you stick to a process and continue to work a system, until it works for you. Even an imperfect one—you build a base. You adapt. You tweak it. But you keep going and you start to see momentum build. Bit by bit.
And then you keep building on that.
Because whether it’s fitness or business, the principles are the same: show up, be willing to adjust, and trust the process.
You don’t change the goal post. You don’t give up when the results don’t show immediately. You don’t stop.
And hey, if I can lose eight pounds while still enjoying my wine, you can make progress too.
You’ve got this! 😉
