What do you mean you can’t do it?

When I was a kid, I almost drowned.

The experience left me terrified of water.

I avoided swimming in oceans and lakes because I couldn’t shake the fear of it happening again.

For years, I let that fear control me.

But as I grew older, something inside me shifted.

I realized that fear doesn’t have to hold us back forever, and I decided it was time to face mine head on.

So I did something that felt completely impossible…

I signed up for a half Ironman, which included a 2km swim.

For someone who had spent most of her life scared of swimming, it was a daunting commitment.

But I knew I had to start somewhere, so I signed up for swimming lessons at my local community center.

At my first session, the instructor asked me to swim the length of the pool and back—without stopping or coming up for air.

Obviously, I told her I can’t do that.

She looked at me, puzzled, and said, “What do you mean you can’t?! You’re going to be swimming 2km for a half Ironman.”

Honestly, part of me didn’t believe in myself either.

I failed that day in the pool. And the doubt crept in.

I decided to scale back my goal and signed up for an Olympic-distance triathlon instead—a shorter swim at 750m.

But even that felt overwhelming, and at the last minute, I downgraded to the sprint distance—the “baby class” of triathlons.

I told myself, I can’t do this yet, but I’m going to do something.

And that’s exactly what I did.

Completing that sprint triathlon wasn’t the goal I originally set, but it was a huge stepping stone.

It was progress.

It was action.

And action, no matter how small, is what builds belief.

Looking back, I learned an invaluable lesson: progress isn’t about getting it perfect the first time.

It’s about moving forward, holding space for possibility, and staying committed to the journey… even when fear and doubt creep in.

This is the same philosophy I bring to the Sold Out Coaching System workshop.

Whether you’re looking to scale your business, hit 6 figures, or finally create the program you’ve been dreaming about, the first step isn’t about perfection.

It’s about commitment.

It’s about taking action, even if it’s just one step.

Because action is what creates belief.
