Don’t Forget This…

Oh boy! I’ve been in shock.

A year and a half ago I took the plunge to hire a nanny. I was super hesitant at first, but I wanted more support around the house. My business was growing and I found it hard to keep up with two toddlers at home, a business, and still have time to manage a household and a life.

Without realizing it, I got used to having extra support around the house and things got easier. Way easier.

Same with my business. At the beginning, I wore all hats. I did everything. I was the web designer, copywriter, marketer, sales person, content manager, social media manager, bookkeeper, Facebook ads manager, strategist and customer service rep.

There were days where fitting all that into part time hours alongside being a mom felt like a HUGE struggle. It forced me to let go of unnecessary tasks and get super productive with the time I had.

But for the longest time, if I didn’t work, I didn’t get paid. It was like I could hear my grandmother ringing in my ears. She used to tell me in her strong polish accent “You no work, you no eat!”

As time went on and my business continued to grow, I knew better and I was able to set up systems, hire help and outsource many of the tasks that I was doing.

Things got easier. Way easier in fact.

I leveraged my own time on the things that generated income and focused on what I loved doing, that was in my zone of genius – strategizing the growth of other people’s businesses.

I’ve always had a knack for spotting opportunities and finding the quickest way to achieve a result, while never compromising quality or impact.

But this past week I was hit with a BIG shock.

My nanny left for 7 weeks to go back to the Philippines to visit her family. It hit me like a ton of bricks just how much easier things had become since having hired additional help and support.

As an entrepreneur, you’re always seeking that next level. It’s like the perpetual reach for the next milestone, the next win and it’s easy to forget to look back at how far you’ve come.

I developed a #newnormal and I hadn’t even acknowledged it.

Just like in your business, when you hit a milestone in your business, it’s like a line is drawn in the sand and that becomes your new normal. It’s like the wind blows away all the other (impressive at the time) milestones.

So I want you to take a minute out to look in the rear view mirror and give thanks and appreciation for how far you’ve come.

Whether you’re in

✔️ The incubation or ‘figuring it out’ phase and you’ve only just realized you have the desire to become an entrepreneur.

✔️ Early stages of your business and are still wearing all those hats.

✔️Or you have a successful business already and you keep reaching for that next launch goal or are looking to leverage your time and move away from 1:1 support.

…remember you once started at ground zero. Heck maybe even sub zero!

Today your #newnormal is what you know as your new baseline. But guess what? Where you are now, no matter where it is, is a dream come true for someone else.

And where you want to be and where you are going is a #newnormal for somebody else.

So take a break.

Live in gratitude for how far you’ve come.

Give yourself a pat on the back and say “I’m proud of you!”

I can promise you that what feels hard today, will feel easy tomorrow.

And what feels easy today, once felt like an uphill battle.

So celebrate the journey.
