K-I-S-S

After a couple weekends jammed with back to back activities, fundraisers followed by the mad rush of finishing my business and family to do’s before leaving for 3 weeks I was feeling a little drained before coming here to Palm Springs.

I was saying “yes” to things I wanted to say “no” to.

…I know better.

I was piling up more things on my to do list like I was superwoman, thinking I could do it all.

I know I can’t.

And it caught up with me like someone let the wind out of my sails. Both kids got sick. So did I. And there wasn’t a lot of sleep to be had (if you have little ones, you understand).

I was feeling stressed, drained and just needed a time out.

I realized I hadn’t been taking time out for me, to have my own space and recharge.

So I did just that.

Time to journal.

Time for exercise.

Time for shopping. 😉

Best of all, time to say “no” to everything I didn’t want to be doing or shouldn’t be doing.

Which brings me back to K-I-S-S…

aka Keep-it-simple-stupid.

I could happily drop the last s, but k-i-s-s makes it easy to remember.

It’s easy in business, and in life, to get off track. To fall into doing what you think you should be doing and end up in mental spiral because of it.

It’s also easy to “try” lots of different projects and strategies at once, thinking that fancy marketing and the latest sexy tactic will be the thing that will give you your big break.

The truth?

Keep it simple.

Stick with the fundamentals.

Your message (connection & engagement)

Your audience (leads)

Your offer (sales)

When those are aligned, you will see results.

When they’re not aligned and you add on those fancy tactics, it’s like putting lipstick on a pig. It’s not gonna be pretty.

So my message to you today is to master the simple.

Focus on your fundamentals.

Nail your messaging so the ears of your prospective clients perk up immediately as they feel like you’re in their head.

Know your audience like it’s nobody’s business. Business is about building relationships. Listen to them. Learn about them. Bring them together. Build your list. Build your raving fan base.

Craft and sweeten up your offer and get it out there, because we both know build it and they will come ain’t never gonna happen.

If you master the simple, you’ll be so much further ahead.

So, enjoy your weekend. Take time out for yourself. And keep-it-simple!

P.S. If you already have an offer and you already have an audience, but want some help connecting the dots so you can be making more sales and better leverage the power of Facebook come check out the 5 Days, 5 Ways to Facebook Fortune here.
