You’re probably used to seeing what it looks like in front of the camera…
But have you ever thought about what’s happening behind it? Ha!
This is where I actually end up working most days.
I have an office.
But somehow, I always find myself in the kitchen.
Coffee, snacks, people in and out… it just feels more alive.
And honestly, I like it that way.
But it was recently spring break for the kids…
And it was a completely different level.
Try getting through a focused work block when someone is asking for food every 10–12 minutes… LOL…
Or when there’s constant movement around you that pulls your attention just enough.
Nothing is technically wrong.
But you’re also not fully in it.
And I started noticing something.
It wasn’t that I didn’t have time to work. (I mean… I still had the same 24 hours in a day!)
It was more so…
I would begin something…
Then get pulled out of it.
Come back.
Try again.
Shift again.
And by the time I actually sat down to focus…
The window already felt smaller.
So it was harder to fully commit.
And that’s where momentum breaks.
It wasn’t that I didn’t know what to do, but it was hard to lock in when your ear is always perked up in case there was a question for mom!
So I started doing something simple.
When I catch that pattern, I set a 30-minute timer.
I pick one thing that actually moves something forward…
And I stay with it.
No switching. No adjusting. No stepping out halfway through.
30 minute focus time.
And almost every time, that’s enough to reset everything.
So try this today:
Set a 30-minute timer and choose one task that directly moves your business forward.
Then stay with it.
Because when you work from home…
The problem usually isn’t time.
It’s how easily your attention gets pulled before you ever fully begin!
